There's nothing quite like seeing your favourite music live.

We asked our customers to tell us their stories about their favourite live events.

Here we go...

"I went to The Wall concert in Berlin in 1990. It was the year after the Berlin Wall came down and I was in Germany on a summer internship while at Uni. Some friends and I piled in a car without much planning other than a few tents. We queued for hours on the Autobahn just to get there. Sometimes we were stopped so long that we got out to talk to the people in other cars. Once in Berlin we camped on a bit of grass next to a public toilet hoping the police wouldn’t tell us to leave. We went to the wall the next day and chipped some pieces of it away with a hammer. When we finally got to the concert it was incredible… electric. So many people… Having visited East Berlin the year before it was liberated, to standing in what used to be East Berlin belting out “all in all its just another brick in the wall” is hard to put into words. It was magic."

"My first ever concert was watching avenged sevenfold at the LG Arena in Birmingham, watching them and enjoying the spectacle that is live music further sparked my passion in performing and pushed me to pursue my goals of being in a band."

"Not directly about me - but a friend of mine at secondary school had tickets to Michael Jackson’s final UK tour “This Is It” in London. As a huge fan who wasn’t able to get tickets, this made me extremely jealous at the time. When it transpired that Michael Jackson had died, my friend was given the choice of either getting a refund for his ticket, or having it sent back to be framed for him as a souvenir. He chose the refund. We haven’t spoken in years."

"I saw MUNA in Manchester in 2022. I’m from New York and had seen a few shows on their most recent US tour. I was visiting a friend at the time of their UK tour, and loving the band, ended up front row. When they walked on stage and saw me they pointed and smiled in surprise and it was a really wonderful and connecting moment, having seen the show on both sides of the Atlantic and being able to see how they connected with a completely different audience."

"Passenger did an intimate release party for "Young As The Morning, Old As The Sea". First of all, it was fantastic to see him 10 ft away instead of 100ft and secondly, his good friend (and another favourite singer of mine) Stu Larsen was stood a couple of people behind us, so we got to have a chat with him after the gig as well!"

"One of my most special experiences was in 2016 when I flew out to Asbury Park in New Jersey to go to a festival called 'Shadow of the City' which is put on by artist and producer Jack Antonoff. I was there mainly to see his old band Steel Train play a very special reunion show, but I also got to catch up some very close friends as well as hang out with a lot of friends for the first time. It was an incredible day and a trip I'll never forget. Highlights include dancing with Jack to 'She's American' by The 1975 (they headlined) and singing with everything we had to Steel Train performing 'Kill Monsters in the Rain.'"

"In 2018 I saw Kimya Dawson in Chicago, opening for AJJ. then I met Kimya at the merch table, and I got her to draw me a little fire (for a tattoo) and she was very awkward & kind. That crowd was one of the most cathartic crowds ive ever been in."

"I’ve seen two gigs go badly wrong with sound issues. One relatively unknown, Steve Braun, and the small crowd didn’t seem to care either way. But as with the other, his professionalism won the day. And that other was none other than Elvis Costello, Hammersmith, sometime in the 80s. His set started well then descended into feedback chaos and the crowd turned. As he was booed off stage we thought the gig was over. But no, he came back and played a fabulous acoustic set whilst work went on behind the scenes. Gradually the band joined him but by that time the crowd was well and truly on his side. A fantastic turnaround and very memorable gig!"
