Asia is an English supergroup formed in London in 1981. The band was composed of former members of
progressive rock bands such as
Yes,
King Crimson, and
Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Their self-titled debut album released in 1982 was a huge commercial success, featuring the hit singles "Heat of the Moment" and "Only Time Will Tell."
Despite lineup changes over the years, Asia continued to release albums and tour throughout the 80s and 90s. Their music is often described as a blend of progressive rock and
pop, with an emphasis on strong melodies and lush arrangements.
