Rare Vinyl Records

Hannah |

As we head into the new year, it’s the perfect time to look back at the records our customers couldn’t get enough of. While many of last year’s best-sellers won’t come as a surprise, it’s been exciting to see a few albums climb the rankings and make a much stronger showing than they did in 2024.

If you’ve been following along with our countdown on social media, you’ll already have spotted familiar favourites from the top 20 - including Queen, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush and The Beatles. In this blog, we’re taking a closer look at the top ten, exploring which records rose to the top - and why they became our best-selling albums of the year.

Which record do you think claimed the number one spot? Did any of your personal favourites make the cut? Read on to discover our best-selling albums of 2025.

10 - Wings - Band On The Run

In at number 10 we have Wings' third studio album, Band On The Run. The was Paul McCartney's last album on the Apple Records label, and remains his most successful album post leaving The Beatles. Because of its commercial success, it has been reissued many times, with later issues having bonus tracks, which makes this album quite the collector's item.

9 - Kate Bush - Hounds Of Love

Given a resurgence by Stranger Things, Kate Bush's Hounds of Love, containing the hit lead single 'Running Up That Hill' has been introduced to a whole new generation. This has increased the demand for this album immensely, and we have seen it flying off the shelves this year.

8 - Blondie - Parallel Lines

Containing hits including Hanging on the Telephone, Heart of Glass, Sunday Girl and One Way Or Another, Parallel Lines instantly hit number 1 in the UK album chart. Its success has continued, with the album being reissued many times, with various bonus tracks, including French versions of the hit singles, and it is still in high demand today, as it has some of their most well known songs on its tracklist, making it an excellent place to start a Blondie collection.

7 - Supertramp - Breakfast In America

With the album cover being a parody of The Statue of Liberty, Supertramp's sixth album was pitched as an album of fun songs, finding joy in the music and lyrics. Many listeners interpreted this album as a satirical representation of America, but Supertramp assured this was not their intention.

6 - The Beatles - Abbey Road

At number 6, we have the album which brings thousands of people to a London zebra crossing every year to recreate it. This was the last album The Beatles recorded, but Let It Be was completed later than Abbey Road, making that their last album before the band's break up in 1970. It contained the hit songs Come Together and Here Comes The Sun, and sold four million copies in the first two months of its release. Because The Beatles are still a widely enjoyed band today, all of their albums still fly off the shelves daily.

5 - Pink Floyd - The Wall

The Wall is one of the best known concept albums, and is the best-selling double album of all time. The story follows Pink, a rock star, and his life, revolving around themes of abandonment, violence and isolation, all symbolised by a wall. Roger Waters - Pink Floyd's bassist - said that this album was his favourite he recorded with Pink Floyd.

4 - Michael Jackson - Thriller

Michael Jackson set out with a purpose for this album - to make every song a hit. Considering that it was released in 1982, and has not only made number 4 on our list, but has sold an estimated 70 million copies worldwide since its released, it has definitely achieved that goal!

3 - Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms

Brothers In Arms starts our top 3. It was the first album to be certified ten-times platinum in the UK, and is the eighth-best-selling album in UK chart history. This year, it was re-released in multiple formats to commemorate its 40th anniversary.

2 - Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

Compiled while the band was falling apart, recording sessions took place while the band members were at each other's throats, with this atmosphere bleeding into the lyrics and vocals. Despite the animosity between the band members, they still took this album on tour, and it became their best-selling album. It was reissued and remastered in 2004, with the addition of Stevie Nicks' Silver Springs, which was originally pulled from the album without her knowledge.

1 - Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon

The second entry for Pink Floyd in our top ten best-sellers this year. At number one, we have The Dark Side Of The Moon - Pink Floyd's most sought after album. The version of this album that is in the highest demand is the first pressing, with the solid blue triangle on the label of the record, but all pressings of this album have retained demand. It has been reissued with quadraphonic mixes, making listening to the album a more immersive experience.

If you were following along on our social media countdown and guessed that The Dark Side Of The Moon would be number one, well done! If you commented on one of our countdown posts with a correct guess at what would be number one, you could be in with a chance of winning a copy of Dark Side Of The Moon, so look out for a message from us on social media.
