In 2025, we bought and sold records by hundreds of different artists. This has ranged from well-known stars like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and David Bowie, to lesser-known film scores, and obscure jazz.
In this blog post, we'll explore our best-selling artists of the year, which has seen some changes from last year, with a different artist making number one, and a few artists climbing into the chart who didn't make an appearance last year.
20 - The Who
Dropping two places from last year, The Who have just made the top 20 this year. Formed in 1964, they released a total of 12 studio albums, along with 4 soundtrack albums, not to mention their compilations.
19 - Electric Light Orchestra
Our furthest faller this year, at 19 we have the Electric Light Orchestra. Last year, they made 10th place. Their most streamed song - Mr Blue Sky - has a feature most appreciated on vinyl. At the end of the track, it asks you to 'please turn me over' which worked for the 7" single, but also works for the LP - Out Of The Blue - as Mr Blue Sky concludes Side C.
18 - Bruce Springsteen
Having released 21 studio albums in his career, it's not surprising that Bruce Springsteen makes this list. Most of his albums feature the E Street Band, his backing band since 1972.
17 - Kate Bush
As mentioned in our Top Ten Best-Selling Albums of 2025, Kate Bush has had a significant resurgence in the last couple of years thanks to Stranger Things, which is clear from her position on our top 20 this year.
16 - Blondie
First receiving commercial success in Australia, Blondie soon became a global hit, bolstered by the fact that Debbie Harry released some of their hit singles in multiple languages.
15 - Deep Purple
Considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal, Deep Purple still remain a firm favourite. Some of their most well loved albums have been released on purple vinyl, as homage to their name.
14 - Bob Dylan
Dropping two places from last year, Bob Dylan comes in at 14. This year, we have seen many mono reissues, like the one pictured, often pressed on 180g vinyl.
13- Roxy Music
A new entry for this year, Roxy Music didn't place on our top twenty last year, but we have seen a large increase in collections with large Roxy Music sections, so we have seen a subsequent rise in sales.
12 - Black Sabbath
Another new entry for this year, Black Sabbath are one of the artists that were taken on by the Vertigo record label, when they were pressing on their iconic swirl design. Any records with the Vertigo swirl are highly sought after, and we have been lucky enough to purchase a large collection of Vertigo swirl pressings this year, including Black Sabbath.
11 - Fleetwood Mac
Always in high demand, Fleetwood Mac are one of the best-selling artists of all time, with their Rumours album being one of the highest sold. Here we see the full discography of Fleetwood Mac, from the early Peter Green albums, all the way up to modern releases like a white pressing of their self-titled album.
10 - Dire Straits
Halfway through the top ten, we have Dire Straits. Their first album produced the hit single 'Sultans of Swing', and their most commercially successful album, Brothers In Arms, has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide.
9 - Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin is always a best-seller, be it rare pressings or standard releases, the band is generally found somewhere when we do a ranking list. Early pressings of their first few albums have Atlantic's plum labels - later replaced with green.
8 - Elton John
For this blog last year, we spotlighted a yellow pressing of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. This year, we've explored Tranco pressings of his records, which have a hidden colour to them - you just need a torch!
7 - U2
Our highest climber this year, U2 have moved up 6 places to number 7. The band formed when the members were still in school, but within four years, they signed with Island records and released their debut album.
6 - The Rolling Stones
We are lucky to have seen a great many copies of Sticky Fingers this year, specifically early pressings with the functioning zipper sleeve. While controversial at the time, this album cover has become an iconic staple of Rolling Stones history.
5 - Genesis
For those of you keeping up with our top ten blogs each month, Genesis' From Genesis To Revelation will look familiar. We sold a very rare mono copy of this album this year - it's stereo press counterparts being a lot more frequently found.
4 - Queen
A fan favourite, Queen just missed out on the top three this year. With many a hit across all of their albums, it's understandable that they rank so highly in our top ten.
3 - The Beatles
With a discography spanning 12 UK studio albums, and countless compilations, The Beatles broke onto the music scene in 1960 and demand for their records has never stopped, hence their place in the top three.
2 - Pink Floyd
Unsurprisingly, Pink Floyd have maintained their number 2 position on this countdown. We see Pink Floyd records come through our hands on a daily basis, and fly off the shelves as fast as they reach them.
1 - David Bowie
Up three places from last year and taking this year's number one spot we have David Bowie. We were incredibly fortunate to purchase a large David Bowie collection this year, almost a complete discography, including many imported 7" singles. This caused a peak in sales, which brings David Bowie to the number one spot.
