Everything You Need To Know About Our Courier Buying Process

Parting with your record collection is something to be understandably wary about. If you are thinking of selling your record collection to us, this blog will guide you through how we purchase a record collection through our courier service, while keeping you informed and your collection safe.

What Happens When We Receive Your Enquiry?

Once you submit an enquiry into selling your collection, using the 'Sell Your Collection' button in the top right corner of our website, this will come through to our buying team who will aim to get back to you within one working day. 


Note: If we are interested in purchasing your collection and you are local to us, it would be great if you could drop your collection in to us. We are here 9am-5pm Monday-Friday, and our address is Unit J, Creech Paper Mill, Creech St Michael, Taunton, TA3 5PX. When you arrive, please ring the doorbell and one of our staff members will come and greet you.

What If I'm Not Local To Taunton?

Introducing Our Courier Service

We purchase collections from all over the UK, via a courier service. If we are interested in purchasing your collection, we will organise sending you boxes to pack your collection into, along with bubble wrap and tape to protect your collection while it is in transit.


We dispatch the boxes on a Royal Mail tracked service, and provide them with your contact details. Royal Mail should provide you with updates that will allow you to track and update your delivery preferences.

Once your boxes are packed up and ready to go, we can organise a collection date to suit you. The collections are from 8am-6pm, so it will need to be a day that someone will be around for most of the day. If it is easier for you, we can also organise collection from a work address, or from a friend or neighbour.


Alternatively, we also offer a post office drop-off service, where you can drop the boxes at your local post office at a time to suit you. 

What If I Change My Mind?

At any point in the process, you are welcome to change your mind. If you no longer wish to sell your records, and they are still in your hands, we would appreciate it if you could send us an email, or call us on 01823 428496 to make us aware that you don't wish to sell your collection anymore. 


If the records are with us, and we have given you an offer you are not happy with or if you change your mind for any reason, we can organise for your records to be sent back to you. This is done at our cost, and once they have been sent, you will receive a tracking link through which you will be able to see when your records are collected from us, up until they are safely back with you. 

Who Pays For The Courier?

We aim to make this service as easy for you as possible. This means that every step of the process is organised and paid for by us. 


We pay for the boxes to be sent to you, for the courier service to send them down to us, and if you don't accept our offer, then we would pay for the records to be shipped back to you. So, if you are interested in selling your collection to us, it will be at no cost to you.  

Will My Records Be Safe In Transit?

We have purchased 100s of collections through our courier service, and have never had any issues with it, even in cases where the boxes had been packed poorly by the seller or our offer was not accepted and the records were sent back to the seller.


The collection will be insured from the moment it is collected from you, including during shipping and while at our premises.

How Long Does The Process Take?

Once we dispatch the packaging to you, it will be with you within a few days. Then we'll book a collection for a day that suits you, and the records will usually be delivered to us the next day. 


We then generally call the day after with our offer, but we do ask that you allow us up to 2-3 working days to allow for unexpected staff absence or similar. We then send payment on the same day, or possibly the next day if the offer was accepted after 4pm.

I live outside of mainland UK, can you offer the courier service to me?

For most non-mainland UK enquiries (eg, Channel Islands), the courier service we use will offer the post office drop-off service mentioned above. We will always double-check this before we proceed with your enquiry, and inform you if we are unable to offer our collection service. 


The rest of the process will be exactly the same, but the records may take slightly longer to get to us.


Unfortunately, we are unable to purchase collections from outside the UK.
