Rare Vinyl Records

A big month for alternative and electronic releases!

This month's rarest record list features more mainstream albums from Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon, to more niche albums released by artists including Carbon Based Lifeforms and Ernest Ranglin.

Did any of your favourites make the cut? Read on to discover the top ten rarest records we sold in April 2025.

10 - The Orb - Baghdad Batteries

This is The Orb's ninth studio album, released in September 2009 and pressed on vinyl in March 2010. This is a highly sought after album, as this is the only version of this album that was released outside of a mixed media box set.

9 - Carbon Based Lifeforms - Interloper

This 2017 repress of this Swedish Duo's electronic third album is another highly sought after release. This album was pressed on four different colours of vinyl, black, clear, and two different variants of green. Many keen record collectors will collect all four records to complete the set, which makes colour variants very desirable.

8 - Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon - Second Press

These copies were produced for a very short time between the first pressing and the first repress, featuring the earliest use of the 'blue outline prism' label design. They still have 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd' on the rim text of the label, which was removed on later pressings. Many copies of this issue are seen with a sticker on the front, although this one does not have it. Originally, they contained two A2 sized posters, and two stickers.

7 - Roni Size / Reprazent - New Forms - 5 x 12" Box Set

Released in 1997, this box set is the debut studio album from Roni Size & Reprazent. The album was released in various formats, all with different tracklists, making them highly collectable, as to gain all of the tracks you needed to collect all of the versions of the album. This 5 record set included tracks from the second CD of the album.

6 - Nick Drake - Bryter Layter - Repress

A very popular artist here at Atlas Records, Nick Drake's second studio album made number six on this month's list. Released under the Island Records label, this 1972 repress has many differences from the original pressing. This issue lists the track timings on the label, and does not have 'stereo' on the label. It has two different sleeve variants, with this one being the textured sleeve, a novelty which many collectors look for when purchasing records for their collection.

5 - Oasis - Stop The Clocks - 3 x LP Box Set

This compilation box set features 18 of Oasis' most iconic tracks, with the featured songs chosen by Noel Gallagher. It came about due to the end of Oasis' contract with Song BMG Music Entertainment, and due to the fact that Oasis had said they would never release a compilation album like this unless they were going to split up. Due to this, and Oasis' popularity, this is still a much wanted album amongst fans and collectors, especially in the mint condition this album came to us in.

4 - Ernest Ranglin - Reflections - Mono

Early Island Records pressings are often fascinating finds. Ernest Ranglin's records were some of Island Records' earliest pressings, and are therefore a draw to any collector with and interest in Island Records' history. Island Records were founded in Jamaica in 1959, with the desire to showcase Jamaica's vibrant musical spirit. We see many records released under this label every day here at Atlas Records, and it is lovely to see how far this label built out of a love of music has come.

3 - Deep Purple - Deep Purple In Rock

Into the final three for the month of April! This extremely rare pressing of Deep Purple's Deep Purple in Rock has a slight difference in the matrix details, making it highly collectable. It is a first pressing, with A-1 B-1 matrixes. The matrix details on this record were changed prior to its release date, with most release date copies having A/2 B/1 matrix details, instead of A-1 B-1. The scarcity of this release is definitely what caused it to reach third spot on this month's list!

2 - The Who - Quadrophenia

This 200g reissue of The Who's Quadrophenia is a Quiex SV-P issue, pressed by Classic Records. Quiex SV-P is highly regarded in the vinyl collecting world for its sound quality. The pressing technique was developed to minimise surface noise and improve playback fidelity. Many of these reissues fetch very high prices in the resale market.

1 - Biffy Clyro - Lonely Revolutions

Onto the rarest record we sold in April 2025. This limited edition record was limited to 300 copies and was exclusive to Biffy Clyro's online store. It features all the B sides from the singles taken from 'Only Revolutions' across two 180g LPs. Naturally, due to only 300 being pressed, this is a much desired record for collector of this genre.
