Top 10 Rarest Records Atlas Records Sold In October 2025

Rare Vinyl Records

We would like to say that the top ten was very varied this month - as this blog suggests, but in fact, this is the top 15, condensed down into 10, due to the incredible amount of repeats that made the top ten! We saw two copies of New Order's Substance sell this month, which both made the top ten, along with four copies of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon! We have included one entry each for these records, placing them at their highest position in the list.

Because we source collections from all over the country, and ship orders all over the world, it isn't uncommon for us to sell multiple copies of an album in a month, but seeing four high-value copies of The Dark Side Of The Moon sell in one month is something that doesn't happen very often. These pressings are often incredibly valuable due to small nuances in the matrix details, or information on the labels.

You can read our other top tens, and a guide to protecting your records by exploring the rest of our blog.

Read on to discover our rarest albums this month.

10 - Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin - Repress

An album famed for its incredibly rare first presses with turquoise lettering, even represses are highly desirable. Led Zeppelin's first album, which is self-titled, reaching number 6, 10 and 1 in the UK, US and Australian album charts respectively. Early represses were pressed on orange and plum labels, an iteration of the Atlantic record labels, before they switched to the more common green and orange.

9 - New Order - Substance

This first edition of New Order's Substance was housed in an embossed sleeve, and like most other New Order records, was pressed at MPO Averton. This double LP compiles all of the band's pre-1987 singles, in their 12" versions, along with their respective B sides. It also included their newly released 'True Faith', with its B-side '1963', along with new versions of 'Temptation' and 'Confusion'. For any New Order fan, this is a must have compilation.

8 - The Cranberries - No Need To Argue

Containing one of The Cranberries' most famous songs, 'Zombie', No Need To Argue is the band's best-selling album. It has sold over 17 million copies worldwide. They took a deeper dive into the darker, harsher side of rock, which is said to have cemented their importance in Irish music. Lyrics include commentary on significant events of the time, including Zombie's themes of the Warrington IRA bombings in 1993, and The Icicle Melts' links to the James Bulger case in the same year - it's original title set to have been 'The Liverpool Child'.

7 - Alizée - Gourmandises

Gourmandises - meaning 'Delicacies' in English, is the debut studio album by Alizée. She participated in Graines de Star, a French talent show, where she met Laurent Boutonnat and Mylène Farmer, who invited her to record a single, which topped the French charts in 2000. This single made it onto her debut album, which also topped the French album charts.

6 - Taylor Swift - Folklore - Edition No. 6 - 'Hide And Seek'

'Hide And Seek' was number 6 of the 8 collectible covers of this album, which were all limited edition, excluding edition 1, which was the standard edition. As is common with all of Taylor Swift's more recent releases, each edition of the album uses unique photo inserts and front and back cover photos. Each record in the set was pressed on a different vinyl colour, with this one being a pale blue, differing from the standard light brown edition. Because editions 2-8 of this record were only on sale for a week, these pressings of Folklore are some of Taylor Swift's most highly sought after records.

5 - The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses

This first press of The Stone Roses' self-titled album makes spot number 5 on the top ten this month. Released in 1989, this was their debut studio album, recorded in London, and despite it not being an immediate success, The Stone Roses has now sold over four million copies worldwide. Because the album wasn't an initial success, first pressings of this album are scarcer, because they weren't bought immediately, making reissues and represses something more frequently seen.

4 - Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols - First UK Press

We have included an image of the back of this album here alongside the front, as that is what makes this album so rare. The first UK press was printed without a tracklist on the back, with all later editions having the tracklist added. This was an incredibly rare find, and something very desirable for a Sex Pistols record collector.

3 - The Beautiful South - Blue Is The Colour

This was the fifth studio album for the Beautiful South, creating 4 singles, a radio edit B side of 'Don't Marry Her', censoring a swear word I didn't even know was in the original! It also included a French version of 'Dream a Little Dream' which was used in the film 'The Devil Wears Prada', bringing more traction to the album when the film was released.

2 - David Bowie - [Five Years 1969 - 1973] - CD Box Set

A rare kind of sale for us comes in at number 2. As a record company, we don't see many CDs come through our doors, and often we find that the ones that do hold very little value. However, this 12 CD box set from David Bowie, released in 2015, is an exception. While it was made in other countries too, features such as the OBI strip are exclusive to Japan, making it highly sought after for Bowie fans.

1 - Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon - First Press

Here it is, at number one this month, a first pressing of Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon. First pressings are identifiable by their solid blue triangle on the centre labels. Originally the album came with two stickers, and two posters, most of which have been lost over time so it's always lovely to see them when this record comes to us, even when it has been stuck on the front of the sleeve! These first presses also have A-2 B-2 matrices, compared to variable numbers in later pressings.

Protect your rare records:

If you own, or are looking to purchase rare records, they should be kept in the best environment to prevent them from being damaged by the elements. We recommend using HDPE inner sleeves, and polythene outer sleeves, to best protect your collection. You can add them to your next order below.
