British 80s
punk rock icon William Broad - more commonly known as Billy Idol - started his career as a member of bands Chelsea and
Generation X. He moved to New York City in 1981 to pursue his solo career.
As a solo artist, Idol released hits including ‘White Wedding’ and ‘Rebel Yell’ which was also the name of his hit second album. His name came from a schoolteacher describing him as ‘idle.’
