Born in 1972, Petula Clark’s career started when she was still a child, during the second world war on
BBC Radio. Clark experienced success in Europe, which led to her also pursuing a career singing in French. She recorded several songs by
Serge Gainsbourg and toured with Jacques Brel.
Some of Clark's greatest hits include ‘Downtown,’ ‘This is My Song’ and ‘My Love.’ Her 1969 concert ‘An Evening With Petula’ was the first ever BBC colour transmission.
