Our Comments: Black Cat Bones are best known for two people who aren't on this record. Paul Kossoff and Simon Kirke had already left to form Free by the time the band made their only album, so it's Rod Price, later of Foghat, playing lead on Barbed Wire Sandwich, released in early 1970 on Decca's newly launched progressive label, Nova. Original copies are properly scarce now and much wanted by collectors of late-sixties heavy blues. This is the original UK stereo issue, SDN 15, with -2W and -1W matrix endings. The album artwork of this one really caught the attention of the Atlas Records team, and we enjoyed listening to and discussing this one. Both the sleeve and record show typical signs of wear, with creasing on the laminated black sleeve, and some loss of shine and surface marks on the record. This is a quality pressing, however, and the record only plays with quiet but consistent background noise - even across sections with more visible surface marks.
