Our Comments: Even the first pressing of Black Sabbath's debut got a few things wrong. The inner gatefold on the earliest copies reads 'Copyright subsists in all Stereo recordings', corrected to 'Vertigo recordings' on later issues, and every swirl-era sleeve credits the singer as 'Ossie Osborne'. This copy has the misprint, along with the large swirl label and 'A Philips Record Product' at six o'clock, which together mark it out as the true first UK issue rather than one of the swirl variants that followed. This copy is fairly heavily worn overall - the sleeve is split at the top and heavily worn on all edges. The record shows heavy signs of wear too, with a significant loss of shine and very visible surface marks. The most significant scratches go across the first two tracks of the album and despite being able to be felt with a finger or nail, they do not cause significant clicks or pops and certainly no skipping. On this basis, we're glad to have been able to give this record an overall grade of VG. There is also some pen on the labels.
