Our Comments: Pink Floyd's debut came out in mono first, on 5 August 1967, with the stereo following a month later - and in 1967 the mono mix was the one that got all the time and attention. It's noticeably punchier and more upfront, and it keeps the bongo fade at the end of 'Interstellar Overdrive' that the stereo loses. This is a first UK mono pressing, Columbia SX 6157, with XAX 3419-2 and XAX 3420-1 in the run-outs. Wear to bottom left hand corner of the sleeve which has caused a small split. This record has absolutely seen better days, and if you're after a copy that will play through beautifully, this isn't going to be the copy for you. This one has a reasonable loss of shine, visible surface marks and many parts play with short stints of louder background noise, including clicking and wooshing sounds. This release is iconic, and we wanted to do our bit to take care of it and keep it in circulation. The record does play through, just with fairly consistent and occasionally louder or sudden background noise.
