Atlas Records' 20 Best Selling Artists In 2024

This year, we've bought and sold records by hundreds of different artists. From major stars The Beatles to little-known 80s punk Silent Movies - from our town in Somerset.

Starting with the best-selling, featuring the likes of Pink Floyd and Dire Straits, who made our top 20?

Who else but The Beatles would come out as number one? Our top-selling artist by quite a margin, The Beatles are often regarded as the most significant band in rock history.

Unsurprisingly again, coming in at number two is Pink Floyd, selling around 50 fewer records than The Beatles in 2024.

Only 20 sales behind Pink Floyd, Queen did very well at Atlas Records this year. The top selling album, and one of our most popular albums in general was 'Greatest Hits,' first released in 1981.

Closing the gap, at only two records behind Queen, David Bowie was our next bestselling artist of 2024.

Reaching the less predictable part of this list, coming in at number 5 are Dire Straits, with Brothers In Arms and their self titled album the most popular LPs by far.

This year we were fortunate enough to come across our first copies of "From Genesis To Revelation" with the original black Decca sleeve design. One Mono, the other Stereo, these are some of the rarest Genesis LPs out there.

A pleasant surprise at number 7, Elton John is an icon of 70s pop. While many of his releases are fairly run-of-the-mill, some earlier or coloured vinyl pressings of albums like "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and "Tumbleweed Connection" are in pretty high demand.

Perhaps expected higher up on this list, we sell huge numbers of copies of The Rolling Stones' various 'Greatest Hits' albums, including "Big Hits," "Get Stoned" and "Rolled Gold."

Maybe another that rock fans would expect to see higher up on this list, Led Zeppelin were our 9th most popular selling artist of 2024.

With "Out Of The Blue" by Electric Light Orchestra coming out as one of our more popular albums, the rarer blue-coloured vinyl edition is always a pleasure to come across. 

Fleetwood Mac is always a bestseller, with "Rumours" being one of the most collected albums on vinyl. For us, "Tusk" followed fairly closely behind in 2024.

The first entirely American artist on this list, Bob Dylan is one of the greatest artists of all time. We sold a pretty even spread of his albums throughout 2024. 

Selling exactly the same number of records this year as Bob Dylan, U2 are an iconic Irish rock band, with "The Joshua Tree" consistently being one of our top-selling albums. 

With "Slowhand" easily being one of our most popular selling Eric Clapton LPs, we've seen some fantastic rarer Clapton releases over the last couple of years, including Japanese CDs with a 12-inch sleeve.

Coming in at number 15, our favourite Deep Purple releases to come across are the ones that have been pressed on purple vinyl - it just feels right!

Only one sale behind Deep Purple, top The Police albums in 2024 include "Reggatta De Blanc" and "Zenyatta Mondatta."

Their iconic LP "Breakfast in America" was responsible for nearly half of our Supertramp sales in 2024!

Coming in as our 18th top-selling artist of 2024, we have sold many, many copies of "Tommy," "Who's Next" and "Live At Leeds."

With "Band On The Run," being our 8th most sold album of 2024, Wings is one of the greatest 70s pop rock bands, featuring Paul and Linda McCartney.

Finally, at number 20 is New Jersey legend Bruce Springsteen. He has released a total of 21 studio albums over the course of six decades!
